South Broward Offense Explodes For 17 Runs Against Plantation

South Broward defeated Plantation Tuesday night by a final score or 17-2.  The Bulldogs scored in all five innings and batted around twice. 

South Broward came out of the gates swinging, scoring five in the first and never looking back from there.  They scored two more in the second, six in the third, one in the fourth, and topped off their scoring with three in the fifth.

“We’ve been a little hesitant in our games, waiting until we fall behind before we are awaken,” said Head Coach Joe Giummule for South Broward, ” Our goal was to be up from inning one.”

The scoring started in the first with a leadoff walk, followed by a single from the shortstop, Ken Rasor, and an error loading the bases.  Cleanup hitter and catcher, Craig Kirouac, had an RBI single to left and two batters later Ulysses Peguero added a two-run double.  Designated hitter, Ryan Cassidy, finished the scoring in the first with an RBI single.

Rasor had a triple over the centerfielder’s head for an RBI and scored on a single from Bart Mugione to make it 7-0.  Plantation pushed two runs across in the bottom of the second.  Daniel Vasquez had the first RBI for the Colonels with a single and was followed by a sacrifice fly to right by Felipe Garcia.

South Broward had an answer, scoring six more runs in the third on five hits and sending twelve men to the plate.  Starting pitcher Josh James had a two-run double to left center and Kirouac made it back to back doubles to plate pinch runner Brian Salcedo.

James went four innings for the win, allowing four hits with five strikeouts and two walks.  Zach Roberts pitched the final inning striking out two.

For Plantation, starting pitcher Mark Ramcharitar went two and a third innings pitched for the loss.  At the plate he went 2-for-2 with two singles, a run sored, and a stolen base.  Adam Mustafa came in for one and two thirds innings of work and Plantation finished with Trevor Takacs for one inning.

Matt Costa added a hit for Plantation, and three-hole hitter Kody Jones had a single and two walks in three plate appearances.

For South Broward, Rasor finished the night 4-4 with a walk, three runs scored, and two RBI’s.  Dylan Weichhan had two infield hits and was also hit by a pitch and scored two runs.
