Highlands Christian Wins District Game Against Posnak
Tuesday night’s contest between district opponents Highlands Christian and Posnak ended after four and a half innings with Highlands winning by mercy rule.
Highlands Christian utilized five different pitchers who combined for a one-hitter. The lone hit came for Posnack with a leadoff single in the top half of the fifth by Kyle Bratman.
Highlands started the scoring with four runs in the fourth on four hits. Kirvin Moesquit led off the bottom half of the first with a walk, then stole second and third. Tre Dingus followed with an RBI single and stole second, advanced to third on a fly ball to right field, and scored on a throwing error from the catcher.
Kevin Yambor started a two out rally with a single and scored on a single by Ryan Ritter. Ritter scored the fourth run of the inning on a double by first baseman Jack Cabrera
Posnack added two runs in the top half of the second for their only runs of the game. Aaron Kosh and Andres Mizrahi both walked and scored in the inning.
Highlands came back with three more in the bottom of the second on four more hits, all with two outs. Dingus singled, followed by a single from Jason Hepple and Yambor made it a 7-2 game with a two-run single.
There was no scoring in the third but Highlands erupted for 18 runs on 12 hits in the fourth to seal the victory. Dingus started the rout with a leadoff double and scored three times in the inning. The first nine batters to hit in the inning all scored.
“We got all of our subs in, we had a different pitcher every inning,” said Head Coach Joe Shadowens for Highlands Christian, “We’ve got three or four tough games coming up so we need to have more pitching depth and we answered some questions tonight.”
For the game, Dingus went 4-4 with two doubles five runs scored three RBI’s and a stolen base. Yambor went 5-5 with five RBI’s and three runs scored.
