Daily Recap for Broward Games on Wednesday, February 13th
Now here’s the roundup for yesterday’s games…
McArthur 18, Coconut Creek 3 – The Mustangs (1-1) earned their first win of the season with a big first inning in which they scored all of their runs. Kevin Rosario was 2-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs, and Javier Aguilar had a double, two RBIs and two runs. Michael Velez earned the victory on the mound.
Coral Springs Christian 4, Doral 1 – The Crusaders moved to 2-0 behind a strong pitching performance from Eric Hepple, who recorded three strikeouts in four innings to earn the victory. Colin Taylor pitched three shutout innings and fanned four in relief, and Benito Santiago paced the offense by going 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run and three RBI. The Crusaders did not commit any errors in the game.
Piper 11, Plantation 5 – Chase Perry’s three-run home run helped spark the Bengals (1-1) to their first victory. The Colonels (0-2) came back from a 9-0 hole with four runs in the fifth inning. John Maurosky had a double and scored three runs for Piper.
Pompano Beach 21, Hallandale 0 – Sophomore A.J. MarcAntonio hit his first career home run and Shaw Pinnell also went deep to give the Tornadoes (1-1) their first win. Pinnell was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs and Rory McNamara picked up the win on the hill.
Archbishop McCarthy 10, Stranahan 0 – Ariel Vargas and Austin Ford both went 1-for-3 for the Dragons (0-1). The Mavericks improved to 2-0 with their second shutout this week, and they have outscored their opponents 24-0.
West Broward 5, Nova 2 – The Bobcats (1-0) avenged a loss to the Titans in their 2012 Spring Break Tournament as Christian Khawly had a big day at the plate by going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, and Danny Pardo was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Luigi Perez was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Chase Hay-Eldon was 1-for-2 with an RBI. The Titans (0-1) lost for just the third time since the start of 2012, but all three losses have come at home.
