Stranahan 5, Dillard 0 – Ariel Vargas struck out 13 and allowed no hits as the Mighty Dragons evened their record to 3-3. Stranahan is one victory away from its win total from last year with a whole lot of baseball left to play. Jose Lopez went 3-for-4, and Wilfred Santiago went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs.


University School 4, Pine Crest 1 – The Suns (3-0) are 3-for-3 in district games so far this year, taking a commanding lead in District 4A-13. Issac Zinguer led the Suns on Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Steven Goldberg doubled, and Alex Perez went 1-for-3 with a double and RBI for the Panthers. Zack Kone had a hit and a run.


Northeast 7, Coconut Creek 0 – Eduardo Uriate, Ralph Moral and Hassan Westbrook each went 2-for-3, and Westbrook scored two runs to power the Hurricanes as they won their second district game of the season and improved to 3-1 overall.


Coral Springs 12, South Plantation 0 – The Colts (4-2) bounced back from being shut out Tuesday at Taravella with a shutout of their own against the Paladins (2-3) in a District 8A-11 game. Jordan Barrett pitched six strong innings, and Colton Smith went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.


Piper 9, Deerfield Beach 0 – Zach Crosno tossed a complete game, allowing three hits while striking out 12 to propel the Bengals (2-4), who earned their first win this season in District 8A-11. The win broke a three-game losing streak for Piper.


North Broward Prep 2, Monarch 0 – The Eagles (3-2) earned their second consecutive shutout victory as Matt Nathanson went 2-for-3. The Eagles will be trying for their third win this week Saturday as they host Somerset Academy.
