Fort Lauderdale beat Pines Charter to solidify the district tournament seeings…
Fort Lauderdale 6, Pines Charter 3 – Brad Smith tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts, and Kenny Miggins doubled twice and scored twice for the Flying L’s (11-7). Alejandro Kan tossed three and two-third innings, and Jesse Gonzalez homered.
Pine Crest 3, Highlands Christian 3 (11 innings) – The teams battled into the 11th when the game was called. Both teams scored in the 10th to extend the game. Chris Koppenhaver gave a strong effort forthe Panthers (13-8-1), and Mitchell Carroll tossed seven innings, striking out 11 and allowing five hits for the Knights (9-9-1).
Boca Raton 3, Calvary Christian 2 – The Bobcats (11-12) pushed across two unearned runs in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie in a game that was moved to Calvary from Boca High because of rain on Monday. Calvary (9-11-1) scored once in the bottom of the seventh but left the tying run at second base. Alec Berizzi took the hard-luck loss. Matt Alen got his second win and Mike Proulx earned the save. Josh Lane (two runs) and Nico Lares each went 2-for-3 for Calvary.
Sheridan Hills 9, Berean Christian 5 – Marquis Rodriguez allowed one earned run while striking out four in four innings to earn the win for the Sharks (5-10). He also went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Jason Ketcherside went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Zion Lutheran 5, Sagemont 1 – Manny Rojas went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Blayne Baker went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for the Lions (10-8). Alex Ernestine had two hits and scored.
Westminster Academy 10, Boca Raton Christian 1 – Sam Etter drove in two runs, and Blake Kidwell allowed four hits and one earned run in five innings of work for the Lions (9-12-1), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Daniel Donofrio had three hits, including a double, and struck out four in his two innings on the mound. Weston Clemente went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Chaminade-Madonna 4, Belen Jesuit 1 – Jordan Spicer struck out three and allowed four hits and an earned run in five innings to pace the Lions (8-13-2). Adam Toombs hit a three-run home run, and Mike Ramunno had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.
