Brandon Valentin pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts as Somerset Academy downed Coral Springs Charter 8-0 to even its record to 7-7. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Somerset and set up a showdown tonight with University School for fourth place in the district.
Cardinal Gibbons earned two wins over Pompano Beach as it completed a game from March 4, winning 5-4 in 10 innings, and also beat the Golden Tornadoes 3-0. When the dust finally settled, the Chiefs (8-6) moved to second in 5A-16 with a 7-2 record and Pompano went to fourth at 5-5.
