Tommy Romero struck out nine to earn the win for Coral Springs Charter as it squeezed past Chaminade-Madonna 2-1 on Saturday in 4A-14. It was the third consecutive win for the Panthers (8-14) following an eight-game losing streak. Charter finishes in fifth place in the district.
Chad McDaniel and Nik Sanders each had two hits and drove in a combined five runs as Taravella beat West Boca 9-2 to win their fourth in a row.
