Coral Glades Defeats South Plantation 6-3
The Coral Glades Jaguars hosted the South Plantation Paladins on Tuesday night and walked away with a 6-3 win. The Paladins strung together a couple of base hits to start the second inning, then turned them into a pair of runs when Austin Koehler plopped a single into left field, giving his team a 2-0 lead.
It was the the only luck the Paladins had against Jaguar starter Mike Conteras the rest of the evening. Conteras only gave up one more hit, for a total of five, through his five innings of work and also struck out five.
After Conteras surrendered the two runs in the second inning, his offense got to work and quickly regained the lead. With two outs in the bottom half, the Jaguars went on a four-run rally, highlighted by Ken Johnson and Juan Rodriguez doubles.
A lead-off single by Steven Godoy in the bottom of the third translated to another Coral Glades run when he was driven in by a T.J. Densmore sac fly. The duo duplicated the feat in the fifth to extend the Jaguars lead to 6-2.
The Paladins turned a lead-off walk by Zack Birchall in the seventh into the final run of the night.
