Top-ranked Archbishop McCarthy opened the HSBN March Madness Tournament with a 11-1 win over Mater Academy in the Gold Bracket. The Mavericks improved to 14-0.
Yjordan Maldonado struck out 12 and also went 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace South Broward in a 4-1 win over South Plantation. David Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Antonio Schembari went 1-for-3 with a double and RBI for the Bulldogs (8-7), who bounced back from Thursday’s loss to Monarch.
