St. Thomas’ Benson Tosses No-No Against South Plantation
Kyle Benson was in control for St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday night, no-hitting South Plantation 9-0 in an 8A-14 matchup. Benson, a junior, struck out nine, walked none but did hit a batter and he faced the minimum 21 batters as he kept the Paladins (2-3, 0-1) at bay. He also threw just three pitches in the bottom of the first. Two of them resulted in flyouts and the other a ground out.
Meanwhile, the Raiders (5-2) won their fifth in a row and have won both their district game to be in first place.
Aquinas had a big with the bats as well, piling up 15 total hits. Earl Semper had a big day at the plate to pace the offense, as he was 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs. Cameron Krzeminski was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs, Anthony Garcia was 3-for-3 with three runs and Drew Davis and Anthony Mulrine both collected two hits.
