Matt Rumpf pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts as Monarch beat Deerfield Beach 3-0 in a 9A-11 play-in game Monday. The fourth-seeded Knights take on top-ranked Douglas in today’s semifinal.

Bryan Luzon (two runs, RBI), Manny Lebon (triple, two RBIs) and David Brown (two RBIs) each had two hits for South Broward in the Bulldogs’ 14-4 win over Northeast in a 7A-15 semifinal. The second-seeded Bulldogs (13-12) face top-ranked Pembroke Pines Charter in Wednesday’s championship.
