Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Thursday, March 31st, 2016

Calvary Christian won its sixth in a row and held on to the top spot in 4A-7 as it defeated Westminster Academy 10-0 on Thursday. Winning pitcher Christian Scott allowed three hits and struck out five in five innings for the Eagles (12-4, 7-1). Victor Pimentel went 3-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, two runs and an RBI, and Brett Lawson (double, three RBIs) and Max Guzman (double, walk) had two hits each. Cory Acton had a hit for the Lions (10-9, 3-6).

In another 4A-7 game, Sammy Guillorme went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and delivered the walk-off single as University School rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat SLAM 10-9. Jack Schmidt went 2-for-3 with two runs for the Suns (14-5), who won their fifth in a row and are in fourth place in the district at 6-4. SLAM (13-7) is in second place at 8-2.

Somerset Academy won its eighth in a row and held on to the top spot in 5A-14 as it survived a battle with second-place North Broward Prep, winning 2-1. The Panthers (17-3) are 7-1 in the district, while the Eagles dropped to 11-8, 5-2.

Chris Lugo struck out 13 in a complete-game performance for Hallandale in its 7-1 win over Stranahan. The Chargers (7-4) won their second in a row.
