Davila Delivers Shutout In Flanagan Win Over Killian
The Flanagan Falcons and Killian Cougars went head-to-head Thursday night, and the host Falcons walked away victorious with a 3-0 shutout decision.
Both starting pitchers coming out of the gate hot. Killian’s Eli Garcia was strong through five innings, striking out five. He only gave up a leadoff single to Tyler Evans, who was then erased a batter later on a double play.
But this night was all about Nicholas Davila who went seven strong innings. He scattered four hits while striking out 11 and walking none, needing only 93 pitches for the complete-game shutout.
Flanagan was held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning, when they broke through for all three of its runs. Jordan Rodriguez led off with a line-drive single to left field and Rickey Presno followed with a double to right field. A fielder’s choice erased Rodriguez at home, but Presno and Stephen Schissler scored on consecutive passed balls. Arrison Perez then singled, stole second base and then scored on Cheyn Bartels single to right field.
The top four batters in the Cougars lineup all managed a hit but were unable to capitalize.
