Ronny Bailey hit a three-run, walk-off home run as the Bengals beat the Colonels 7-4 in a District 11-6A game. Piper rallied with four runs in the seventh to notch the win.
South Plantation beat rival Plantation in a district match-up that saw emotions run high on both sides. South took an early 10-1 lead, and then off a late Plantation rally in a 12-8 win.
South Broward stayed on top of District 11-6A on Thursday when they defeated Plantation 11-3. Makana Gilliland was the offensive star, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Andrew Pierson gave Monarch seven strong innings, allowing his team enough time to come back from an early 3-0 deficit to defeat Plantation by a final of 6-4 in nine innings.
Plantation picked up a big district win Tuesday on the strength of Mark Ramcharitar’s arm. The Colonels moved within one game of the district lead with a 10-2 win over McArthur.
South Broward has moved to 2-0 in the district and 3-0 overall after their win against Plantation Tuesday night. All three of their victories have come on the road.
Plantation and Coconut Creek kicked off the 2011 high school baseball season in Broward County Monday, and it was the Colonels that left Deerfield Beach with the 13-3 victory.
Defending 6A state champion Flanagan, district 10-6A champs Coral Springs, and district 11-6A champion South Broward, will take the field today for preseason games.
